How to calculate marks percentage

Percentage = (marks obtained ÷ total marks) × 100
Obtained / TotalPercentage
45 / 5090%
360 / 50072%
450 / 50090%
620 / 70088.57%

Worked example

Five subjects out of 100 each, scoring 88, 92, 76, 84 and 90 = 430 out of 500. Percentage = 430 ÷ 500 × 100 = 86%.

Percentage across subjects

To get an overall percentage across subjects, don't average the individual percentages unless every subject is out of the same maximum — instead add all marks obtained and divide by the total maximum. This handles subjects with different maximum marks correctly.
